Project Background

Located one hour southeast of metro-Atlanta, Jasper County, Georgia sits in the path of oncoming suburban sprawl. In 2008, the Board of County Commissioners initiated revisions to the county's Zoning Ordinance to put regulations in place to avoid the haphazard development associated with sprawl. Architectural Guidelines were needed to prescribe building types, styles, massing and details appropriate to the historical architectural patterns already found in the area. The Zoning Ordinance containing these guidelines was formally approved in 2009.
